Do I have to be baptized?

Baptism is not a requirement to become a Christ-follower, but every person who has made Jesus their leader and forgiver will want to be obedient to what Jesus has commanded. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus commands that those who choose to follow Him be baptized, and in 1 John 2:3, we read that a key identifier of a true Christ-follower is being obedient to what Jesus commands.

If you have asked Jesus to be the leader of your life, then you should follow His command and be baptized. For this reason, we encourage anyone who wants to become a member of E.O.F. to be baptized once they have put their trust in Jesus.

12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins …

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
